Questions from readers about my recent article on eliminating microplastics - from a place that takes pickled cabbage very seriously indeed, comes a glimmer of probiotic optimism. A study out of South Korea’s World Institute of Kimchi - proof, if ever it were needed, that humanity will found an institute for anything it loves enough - suggests that a bacterium lounging naturally in kimchi has a rather useful party trick. It can latch onto these microscopic plastic freeloaders in the gut and escort them toward the exit. Yay!

Last week I mentioned Cadbury's as being essentially chocolate-free. From 2027 lab-grown chocolate will start appearing on the shelves. Oreo, Cadbury and Toblerone, and probably other manufacturers, are funding this unholy initiative as a lab is cheaper than a farm. For me Cadbury's has been a no-no for at least the past twenty years when Phylipa became a chocolatier. My preference is for dark chololate but that too, is possibly under threat. Once your taste buds have become familiar with dark chocolate , you'll never go back to adulterated milk chocolate.
